CATIA : 3D Exercise 4

CATIA 3D Exercise

This 3d model is made using CATIA V5 software. First, we have to draw the 2D sketch of the model in the sketcher module and then extrude it into a 3d model in the Part Design module.

First, we draw the outer shape of the model without any holes or slots i.e. a solid 3d model and then alter the 3d model to the required shape.

In sketcher, we use Draw tools like Line, Circle and Modify tools like Trim and mirror command.
Constraint command is used to make the drawn entity of the required shape and size, for e.g. we can specify the distance between two line or specify the length of a line, etc.

Using draw tools, modify tools and constraints we can draw the given figure in 2D. After completing the figure in 2D we have to pad it to give third dimension, i.e. height or breadth to the figure.

Once we obtain the 3D figure we have to select the faces where holes are to be made or any other modifications have to be done, and accordingly draw a circle or any other required shape on it.

Then in Part Design module pocket that drawing such that the material from the primary 3D body is removed to give us the desired shape.

That’s it by using Draw tools, Modify tools and tools we can obtain this part model.
